Stitched Technology : Advance sewing techniques for optimal Performance

Any cyclist would know that comfort is just as important as performance. When you have been on a bike for long periods of time, how comfortable your pad is then becomes a clear indication of your training effectiveness and overall performance.

This is where Elastic Interface®’s construction technique plays a big role in living up to our comfort guarantee. Elastic Interface® uses different technologies and techniques to make sure we achieve optimal comfort in the saddle.

Here we discuss in detail how our stitched technology works when building our world class cycling pads.

Anatomic–Stitched Chamois Technology

The anatomic technology is developed to ensure extreme wearability of the pads for both men and women, applying a different process based on their anatomical structure of the cyclist. It considers the shape and form that will best support the cyclist while pedaling to provide extreme comfort, thus it’s recognizable curved shape.

For men, the process begins with the lamination of the fabric to a fine foam. Then, the laminated fabric is cut into two half-moons, which are sewn together through a central seam. The central seam is sewn with either the traditional technique or the flatlock technique.

While pads for men are created with two half-moons, pads for women take a tridimensional approach. The top of the chamois is made with three different pieces that are sewn together using ultrasonic stitching.

Flatlock Stitching Technique

The flatlock stitching technique is what Elastic Interface® mostly uses in the production of anatomically sewn chamois for men, such as the Endurance Anatomic Road Men. It gives additional comfort to the cyclist particularly at the central channel. Compared to the traditional seam where it creates a sort of“cord”,the flatlock seam is completely flat as the name suggests.

Risen Pad Sewing Technique

The Risen pad sewing technique is a patented manufacturing system from Elastic Interface®. This technique allows the creation of multi-density padding even in the sewn bottoms as compared to the traditional method where it only allows sewing only one padding.

As we can add more inserts to the chamois with this technique, we are then able to increase the level of protection and comfort of the pads. This technique also allows us to use padding with different densities. The Risen technique is mostly used in our premium stitched seat pads, such as the Endurance Anatomic Road for men and women.
